ROSTERMANIA check-in with FaZe, G2 & NaVi!
The IEM Cologne 2025 roster lock coming into effect, we know a little more about the faces and shapes of our beloved Counter-Strike teams for next season. In this article, we cover three massive names; FaZe, G2 and Natus Vincere.
Broky is back, s1mple sidelined.
A mere few days before IEM Dallas, FaZe surprised the entire community by benching broky and bringing s1mple - on loan from Natus Vincere - for what looked like a luxurious audition for the Ukrainian superstar. After a modest Dallas but a much more exciting Austin Major, it looks like a deal couldn't be arranged between FaZe and Natus Vincere. This visibly benefitted broky massively, who's now back in the active roster.
We do not hold any concrete information, yet reports say the deal might have fallen through financially for s1mple and his possible come back. With a contract coming to an end anytime soon, it stands to reason to believe s1mple will still manage to find a suitable team for the next year. We just need a little patience. The fans of FaZe will be hoping that the "forced break" broky had to go through filled him with motivation and energy. After a lukewarm beginning of the year, his team will absolutely need him to find an impactful form immediately, as IEM Cologne is around the corner.
jL takes a step back, makazze steps in
Following the promotion of makazze, from the academy team of Natus Vincere to the main roster, the question left in the air was whose position the newcommer would fill. We know have the answer to that riddle. Natus Vincere have announced jL's decision to take a step back from his active career. The Major MVP explained in a genuine video his needs to focus on different aspects of his life. Understandably, being a professional player at the very top requires an incredible amount of dedication. Sacrifices have to made and the balance can be hard to find. Nay-sayers will say that this might be a P.R. cover up to ease the pain of being irremediably benched. At this point in time we have no reason to doubt the authenticity of jL's comments.
If Natus Vincere do not go through other changes and if their structure, in game, remains as is, we will see makazze being put in relative "star" positions. This gives him a huge opportunity to display his skills in Cologne, even if it adds a layer of consequent pressure. We will have to wait a few more days to see how NaVi put together this new roster on the server.
G2 bench Snax, field MATYS for Cologne.
It's a deep reshaping that we are witnessing with G2. After the removal of TaZ, their coach, it is now Snax who has been benched from the roster. First of all, this means a change of leadership and it would appear that huNter is lined up to take the mantel and the next step in his career. If the in-game leader position has been filled, G2 was still left with the necessity to find a strong rifler. As the roster lock from IEM Cologne kicked in, HLTV reported MATYS as part of the G2 roster.

Banking on the next generation, G2 have taken the leap of faith with MATYS. In the fnatic jersey, he clearly looked a cut above his usual competition as his numbers show. The young talent will have to prove his potential in two different ways. Firstly, the level of opposition he's about to face with G2 is leagues above what he has been used to. Secondly, as most of his games were played online last season, we will have to keep an eye on his ability to quickly adapt to LAN environments. Pressure, expectations and a demanding community will have to be handled one way or another. Nevertheless, with this signing, G2 send a strong signal looking towards the future.
